Gregg Wright Band
Calgary Bluesfest (2012)
Gregg Wright's goal is to be the #1 Blues guitar cat on the planet! When folks want to get their brains
wrecked on mind-bending Blues guitar, Gregg Wright is your guy.
He's the only man in music history to have played with both Michael Jackson and Mick Fleetwood; two of the
biggest record sellers of all time. Both artists saw Gregg's guitar genius and quickly hired him for their
albums and tours. Gregg was also featured on The Jacksons' historical "Victory Tour" with Michael and his brothers.
Gregg got his first guitar while attending junior high in Wichita Falls, TX and later began playing in bands
while in high school in the Washington, D.C. area where his father, a career military man, was stationed.
His early years as a professional musician were on the U.S. southern circuit in the mid-70's playing one-niters
for a number of years.
Opening for Blues legends like Albert King and Freddie King, Wright learned the Blues game from some of its masters.
After moving to Los Angeles in the 80's, Gregg became a top session guitarist, winning awards and recording and
touring with many of Pop music's elite.
Blues Matters magazine says of Gregg's latest CD, King of the Rockin' Blues: "This album places Gregg Wright
in the top echelons of great blues guitarists!" Gregg won the 2010 Southern California Blues Society's Regional
IBC Finals and went on to represent the SCBS in the 2011 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis.
Outstanding live performances from Monterey to Serbia have earned Gregg Wright critical raves and an international
audience that is enthusiastic in its support of this skillful and intense player.
Residing in Los Angeles, CA, Gregg is currently completing work on his new CD which is slated for a late spring '12 release.
He is also in the midst of chronicling the incredible story of how he literally went from being homeless, to becoming
a much-sought-after sideman to the superstars, to being an internationally-known Blues ambassador.
