*Winner - Singing the Blues Competition (2007), Calgary Bluesfest (2007)
It didn't take Curtis long to recognize his musical calling, from his first recording in high school Curtis knew the music business was where he wanted to be.
The young drummer built his foundation in classic rock and was heavily influenced by the rock n' roll of the 60's & 70's. Curtis was drawn to the history of his passion and began digging even deeper into the music, discovering and playing the blues, captivated by the rich feel and emotion in the playing.
After spending 7 years behind the drum kit, Curtis felt the music grow inside him and couldn't keep it behind the kit anymore. Singing became a more regular occurence and in January of 2007, Curtis stepped up to enter the CBMA "Singing the Blues" competition, taking 1st prize. After getting a few good jams in at Morgan's, Curtis is ready to rock the stage this year at The Calgary
International Blues Festival, the Toronto North by Northeast festival, and the Worship Circle International Training Intensive in Minneapolis.
In the meantime, Curtis still spends his time drumming for blues-rockers 'Big Papa G & The Chainbreakers'. Be sure to check out Curtis's performance and take in his youthful charisma laced with soaring vocals and a love for the blues!
