Psychic Spies
Calgary Midwinter Bluesfest (2014)

The Psychic Spies are a local Calgary Band that fits into multiple styles and genres including Rock, Blues, Funk, R&B, Jazz and Pop. The brainchild of guitarist/singer/songwriter Brett Spaulding, The Spies are all about deep and heavy grooves, seductive melodies, high energy performances and good tunes.

Brett Spaulding was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and with the spies has played the Calgary Blues festival, BBQ on the Bow and is a regular at some of Calgary’s premier music venues. He has also played in the Donald Ray Johnson Band, ALittle Voodoo, The Silvertone Devils, and is currently the guitar player in the Mike Clark Band. Originally a solo project of Spaulding's, The Psychic Spies have become a cohesive band through a longstanding house gig in Calgary and are on the verge of releasing their first EP in spring 2014.

Sharing the singing and guitar responsibilities with Spaulding is friend and local musician Chad Holtzman who got his start in music in 1998 with jump/swing band The Jump Daddies. Chad worked for a short stint on the Royal Caribbean cruise lines, after which he toured extensively through North America with the critically acclaimed ABBA tribute band "Bjorn Again". Chad has vast experience freelancing in several bands around Calgary, as well as extensive studio work, including work in the studio with the Spies.

Jeremy Coates, one of the Spies newest members, is currently one of the busiest Bass players in Western Canada. He has played with the likes of Randy Brecker, Eric Marienthal, PJ Perry, Tommy Banks, Nicholas Payton, Bob Brookmeyer and Maria Schneider. Whether he is playing with the Calgary Philharmonic, or laying down heavy grooves with the Psychic Spies, Jeremy is right at home.

Filling out The Psychic Spies Rhythm section is Andy Ericson. Andy has done extensive work live and in the studio. Running his own recording studio, he has recorded Juno nominated albums and has been nominated for top studio in Western Canada. Andy is one of the most respected and skilled drummers in Canada. He is currently working with the spies on their first EP, lending his expertise not only to the songs, but the engineering, mixing and production.
