Auntie Kate & the Uncles of Funk
Calgary Bluesfest (2006)

"Victoria's undisputed Queen of the Blues"

Auntie Kate hits the stage like a barely controlled force of nature, rocking and kicking out blues with a style all her own. Outfitted with dark glasses, and with her unabashed stage presence and her powerful hard edged blues vocals, Auntie Kate takes command of her audiences. Guitarist Tom Bowler, her musical partner & guitarist, roots the Uncles of Funk with his uncluttered funky rhythm and searing blues licks. Tommy Knowles (bass) is a stalwart of the Calgary blues scene, & played for years in Long John Baldry's band. Ron Casat, Calgary's resident keyboards genius, has played with Amos Garrett, Ian Tyson, and just about every recording artist in Alberta. Drummer Lawry Rugg has been an 'Uncle' for 5 years.
