Guitarmania Vlll carries on our tradition of profiling the guitar greats of Canada. Each headline artist is profiled for a full set backed by an all-star band for two full nights of guitar wizardry.

Due to overwhelming demand, we have added a third Guitarmania Vlll show, slated to run at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon, April 28. Starring the same great lineup as the evening shows, this is an ALL AGES EVENT. Children 12 & under free when accompanied by an adult. Doors at noon.


Jerry Doucette

Jerry Doucette is one of Canada's most gifted, influential, and under-rated performers. Mama Let Him Play (1977), with Brent Shindell (guitar), Duris Maxwell (drums), Don Cummings (bass) and Robbie King (keyboards) went platinum virtually overnight. Opening for the likes of Bob Welch and Meatloaf, Doucette quickly made a name for himself south of the border.

Jack Semple

Considered a virtuoso of his art form, Jack Semple plays with unparalleled feeling and total technical control. The JUNO award-winning guitarist/singer has performed from Vancouver to Montreux, released 7 CD's, and shared the stage with international artists ranging from Martha Reeves to k.d. lang.

Maurice John Vaughn

A triple threat on guitar, saxophone and vocals, Chicago-based Maurice John Vaughn was raised on Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, and James Brown. He incorporated his various influences into a blues and R&B style that is completely his own. Maurice writes sharp, original songs, and performs them with soulful vocals, cutting-edge lead guitar, and swinging saxophone.

Megan Lane

Dan Silljer

Left-handed guitar slinger Dan Silljer has burned up the scene in the last decade, as he blends the past, present and future of the blues into one powerful sound. Silljer has shared the stage with a number of blues greats, including Toronto's Jeff Healey and Regina's Jack Semple, and in March 2007 will be an invited guest of the Robert Cray Band at the Casino Regina Show Lounge.

Brent Wright

Brent Wright has been a professional musician since he was 16 years old. He's performed with a diverse range of artists including Dr. Hook, Jerry Doucette, and Long John Baldry to name a few. A veteran in the studio, Brent has appeared on jingles, artist cd's, and his own material. Brent has worked locally with award-winning bluesman Donald Ray Johnson, and has recorded and performed with composer-pianist Ron Casat.

Ken Greer

One of the founding members of Canadian rock legend Red Rider, Ken Greer has a long and illustrious history in the Canadian music industry. When not producing, or appearing as part of Tom Cochrane & Red Rider, Ontario native Ken Greer also is a band member of the Juno and multiple CMT award-winning Road Hammers.

Curtis Cripps

After moving to Calgary, Curtis became the house bass player at the famed King Edward Hotel for many years, where he appeared as part of Bill Dowey & the Blues Devils. Curtis is currently touring with Sonny Rhodes and regularly performs with Johnny V.

Duris Maxwell

Canadian drummer Duris Maxwell has a musical biography that reads like a who's who of music legends, his credits include performing and/or recording with the likes of David Foster, Jerry Doucette, Jimi Hendrix, Heart, Jefferson Airplane, Powder Blues Band, and Jim Byrnes, to name a few.

Mike Little

Keyboard whiz Mike Little arrived in Calgary in '92 in true blues style, joining the House of Payne, and living at the infamous King Eddy Hotel. From there he went on to perform for 7 years with the Mocking Shadows, with whom he twice toured with the legendary BB King.

Geoff Brock

Guitarist/composer Geoff Brock's professional career began late 70's.Through the 80's and 90's, he played the western Canada bar circuit with numerous cover bands, including Atom Heart, Nick Danger, The Long Riders (C & W) and The Holy Cow Trio, to name a few.
