Singing the Blues Vocal Camp

The annual Singing the Blues Vocal Camp is a two-part workshop for local blues singers of all skill levels.

Vocal Camp participants will take a master class from a professional blues singer Donald Ray Johnson to learn about stage presence, mic technique, and how to interact with musicians.

On the evening following the master class, participants will perform with a full band before an audience and panel of industry professionals.

A panel formed by industry professionals  Donald Ray Johnson ,  Cindy McLeod  and  Sherry Kennedy  will offer constructive advice for singers.

Mark Hummel is a road warrior - a true Blues Survivor. Along the way, he has crafted his own trademark harmonica sound - a subtle combination of tone, phrasing and attack combined with a strong sense of swing.

Oakland-based bluesman Rusty Zinn is renowned for his raw, burning guitar work, soulful vocals and jumping blend of 40s & 50s West Coast swing/blues and gritty Chicago blues.

Opening act, guitarist/vocalist Robbie Laws rocks the house with his authentic jump swing, traditional country blues, Piedmont, Delta, early Texas and Chicago blues.
