SINGING THE BLUES VOCAL CAMP 2009
with special guest instructor
Monday, Feb 23 - Singing the Blues Vocal Camp Workshop
Tuesday, Feb 24 - Singing the Blues Vocal Camp Performances
Calgary Midwinter Bluesfest 2009 features the third annual Singing the Blues Vocal Camp, a two-part workshop for local blues singers of all skill levels, who will receive instruction from professional vocal coaches and perform with a live band before an audience of family, friends, and new-found fans!
This year's camp sees aspiring singers participating in a Monday evening vocal clinic led by legendary blues-rock singer Kathi McDonald
Tuesday evening, singers will perform live with a band at the Flight Deck International Bar & Grill. Performances will be critiqued by a panel of judges, who will offer expert advice based on vocal production, stage presence, ability to communicate with musicians without a prior rehearsal, and interaction with the audience.
Singing the Blues Vocal Camp is open to singers of all skill levels who are 18 years & over. Enrollment is free, but class size is limited.
Should your application be accepted, you will be required to participate in the workshop on Monday, Feb. 23 (Ironwood Stage - 1429 9 Avenue SE) and to perform 1-2 songs in public with a live band on Tuesday, Feb. 24 (Flight Deck International Bar & Grill - 1200-9650 Harvest Hills Boulevard NE). Both venues are family friendly, so be sure to bring the whole family out to see your performance!
