Hills & Lemelin

Close your eyes, and you can imagine yourself back seventy or eighty years, hearing Hills and Lemelin on the Saturday juke joint circuit. Open them, the impression stays - they often sport clothing of the epoch onstage. Their musicianship shows the same care for authenticity and detail.

Brother Ray Lemelin's period guitars lay down solid fingerpicking riffs, over which Bill Hills' gutsy, textured, harmonica swoops and dives and growls. As individuals, they've cultivated solid bona fides in Calgary's blues scene for decades, and shared stages with many of the legends. Together, they make traditional and Piedmont blues magic! For that vintage East Coast sound, these guys are as real as it gets.
