Bill Hills, Calgary based harmonica great, started the city's first electric blues band, the Children Blues, during the 1960s. Hills led the 6-piece Alta Blues before becoming a member of Johnny V's Houserockers, and is perhaps most remembered for his Bill Hills and the 9th Avenue Allstars, who performed at the now-famous King Eddy for many years. Recently Bill has teamed with Brother Ray Lemelin to form Hills & Lemelin, for an acoustic, pared down sound.

Bring a diatonic harmonica in any key if you want to play along.

Three musicians who live in three different countries on two continents, with a lifetime of experience onstage and in the studio, composed hundreds of songs and lyrics, and are veteran performers and all round nice guys, Tim Williams, Smiling Jack Smith and David Gwynn have teamed up to offer a workshop that will deal with composition, lyric witing and guitar playing.

Bring a guitar if you want to play along.

John White, winner of the 2011 Singing the Blues Competition, will be appearing with his band, the Smokin' Aces, for a special performance on mainstage at Shaw Millenium Park at 11am on Sunday, August 7th.
